June Planning Meeting Info + Our Finances.

Hello everyone,

First, we sincerely apologize for the delay in sending out our newsletter and postponing the trip planning meeting by two weeks. Thank you for your patience as our team navigated work and personal commitments.

Exciting Growth for Ski Club Uganda

We have great news! Ski Club Uganda is growing, and it’s all thanks to our incredible team effort.

June Trip Planning Meeting Highlights

In our June trip planning meeting, we welcomed new faces such as Charlotte Beauvoisin (Diary of a Muzungu), Alice from the Ugandan Wildlife Authority near Kilembe, and my friend Axel Schrotti.

It was great seeing everybody! If you missed it, full recording here!

During the meeting, we discussed the trip’s activities, including Ski Club Uganda’s mission, tree planting, skiing, and lodging with RTS. More details regarding packages and payments will be shared in the upcoming weeks. Stay tuned!

Special thanks to Morgan for creating a trip calendar and travel checklist, which you can find here.

Documentary Progress

Max is making significant strides with our documentary! He has already interviewed John Hunwick from RTS and our own Lucas Decrinis. Next on the list are Nicole Dreon and Pauli. Brody and Uli, expect an email soon – we’d love to interview you if you’re interested.

Summer Tree Planting Research Prospectus

Sarah and Dr. Bob have prepared a short research prospectus for our summer tree planting project. It outlines the research activities they plan to conduct with students. If you’re curious, give it a read! Please note that it is a draft and may undergo changes.

Preparations for June Tree Planting

A big thank you to Edson, Hannington, John, and the entire RTS team for their diligent preparations for our tree planting activities in June. We will be planting trees along the river valley, in nearby schools, and churches.

Here is Musabe, explaining the nursery preparations for bamboo shoots! Musabe is a guide with RTS.

Merchandise Development

Lucas is making progress on our merchandise line! He met with Magnus Liljeblad from LIFT-BORNE this week, and they will soon send us final apparel mockups and a Ski Club Uganda marketing draft for their newsletter.

Congratulations to Magnus and his team for securing $1.5 million in commitments from ski clubs this season! Learn more about LIFT-BORNE and their mission to support ski racing here.

Middlebury College Collaboration

Lukka and I have connected with professors at Middlebury College who are excited about Ski Club Uganda. I had the pleasure of meeting Prof. Will Amidon, Chair of Environmental Sciences. Once we have an established project, Middlebury is open to funding students to travel to Uganda and promoting this opportunity.

Lukka is also working on getting us featured in the Middlebury Alumni Magazine, which could introduce Ski Club Uganda to thousands of alumni who might want to join or donate.

Social Media Updates

Ricky is actively editing and uploading videos to our Instagram page. We have many exciting videos in the pipeline, so stay tuned for more content soon!

Support Ski Club Uganda

We have so much happening at Ski Club Uganda, and we need your support! If you love what we’re doing and have the means to contribute, please consider donating. Our heartfelt thanks to donors like Jotam Pasiponodya, Nubia Echevarria, Anne Dix, Nicole Dreon, Elisabeth Purtscher, and Felix Knollmann.

As we keep growing, we’ll surely have more expenses. But this the status today.

Your donations keep our mission alive and will soon help fund the team in Uganda. So far, we have raised $467 thanks to our wonderful donors. All expenses have been out-of-pocket, and everyone volunteers their time. Please consider supporting us here.

Thank you all for being part of this incredible journey. We’re just getting started!

Warm regards,
