We’re back, and adjusting to life without rubber boots everywhere – but our work at Ski Club Uganda is far from over. In fact, it’s just getting started, and we’re more motivated than ever!
Since returning, we’ve been focused on building the foundation for Ski Club Uganda. Here’s what we’ve already accomplished:
We’ve set up a Google Workspace account with a dedicated Google Drive to store all our media.
Our LinkedIn profile is live and ready to connect with supporters and collaborators.
We’ve even launched a Wikipedia page! (Thanks, Pauli! We’re still figuring out if it’s accessible worldwide – let us know if you have any issues.)
Along with these steps, Klemen and I are working on gathering the necessary documents to help Batenga and Ganzi push for his Ugandan citizenship. This is a crucial step toward his goal of skiing in the 2026 Olympics for Uganda.
Next week, Lukka and I will be meeting with Professor Jessica L'Roe from Middlebury College to discuss how students can get involved in the tree-planting project in Uganda next summer.
Why is this important?
We’re not just building a ski club; we’re establishing a legitimate, organized entity that will allow us to attract attention, secure funding, and rally support for the Ugandan Olympic effort and our environmental initiatives. When we reach out to international media or potential donors, we want them to see a real, solid organization behind our work.
What’s next on the agenda?
501(c)(3) application: We’re working on this to make Ski Club Uganda an official nonprofit organization.
Website upgrade: We’ll be moving the site away from Wix to skiclubuganda.org for a more professional look.
Social media: We’ll be posting videos from our recent trip to showcase our journey and the amazing work being done.
Tree-planting project: We’re designing the framework for this initiative, and we’ll need your support to get it off the ground!
How you can help
We need assistance with our 501(c)(3) application. If you or someone you know has experience with submitting these applications or has a lawyer who could consult with us, please reach out! We have some questions about navigating international operations and would appreciate any guidance.
Morgan and I are putting in the work, but we can’t do it alone. We’re grateful for your support and excited to continue making progress.
Stay tuned for more updates!
